Class Update - December 2nd

Dear families,

I can believe we are already in December! Next week, the grade 5 students will be leading the Spirit Day under the theme: Anything but a Backpack! Students are encourage to bring their lunch bags in a different "container". Just a friendly reminder that the spirit of this activity is to be creative with what you have at home. There is no need to buy anything! We will be better off if we keep strollers, shopping carts, wagons, etc.,  in a safe place since they can take up too much of our space 😀

 The Week Ahead:

  • Math: We are reviewing word problems involving multiplication and division..
  • Spanish: We are learning to conjugate verbs in present continuous, specifically verbs related with sport activities.
  • ELAL: We started our unit  about poetry. Students have learned how poetry looks like, sounds like, feels like and makes us think about it. To experience poetry, we will start our Poem of the Week routine, looking into different poems and analyze them. We looked at different types of reading strategies (visualize, connect, inference & prediction, questioning, cause and effect, etc.)
  • Science/Social Studies: Students are completing their research about global warming and looking into what actions can we take to improve the situation. Students are learning how Indigenous ways of knowing and being can be implemented for a more sustainable way of living.
  • Physical Education: In soccer, students are learning attacking and defending while controlling the ball.
