Class Update - May 23

As the weather gets nicer, we will spend more time in the outdoor. As a class, we have discussed to dress appropriately for the weather and avoid heat exhaustion. It is important for them to carry a bottle of water, wear a hat and sunscreen if needed.

ESTA SEMANA APRENDIMOS / THIS WEEK WE LEARNED

  • ๐Ÿ”ข Math: We are reviewing algebra: solving equations involving addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. 
  • ๐Ÿ’ƒ Spanish: Students are practicing the past tense (pretรฉrito). 
  • ๐Ÿ“š English: Students are working on fictional writing. This week they will work on developing the character(s) of their story. 
  • ๐Ÿ Social Studies: Students will work on the immigration project. In current events, we will discuss about identity and Asian Americans.
  • ๐Ÿ Science: We will learn about food chain and food web. 
  • ๐Ÿˆ Physical Education: This week we start Alien in Line.
  • ๐ŸŒฎ Food Truck Challenge (Wellness): Students are working on the design of the truck and a healthy menu. This week, students will learn how to run their business financially. The food truck project is part of the Truck Town, a city students are building.

  • ๐Ÿ’ƒ Spanish: Students are learning the past tense (pretรฉrito). 
  • ๐Ÿ“š English: Students are working on fictional writing. 
  • ๐Ÿ Social Studies: Students learned about the challenges of building a country and how the NWMP shaped ways of life in Canada. In current events, we discussed stereotypes.
  • ๐Ÿ Science: Students are learning about the life cycle, the energy and nutrient cycle, organism's role in a wetland ecosystem. Next week, we will learn about food chain and food web. 
  • ๐Ÿˆ Physical Education: We played dodgeball in the gym to avoid the smoke.
  • ๐ŸŒฎ Food Truck Challenge (Wellness): Students are working on the design of the truck and a healthy menu. The food truck project is part of the Truck Town, a city students are building.

Canada Environment forecast indicates that the temperature is set to raise next week. As the weather gets nicer, we will spend more time in the outdoor. As a class, we have discussed to dress appropriately for the weather and avoid heat exhaustion. It is important for them to carry a bottle of water, wear a hat and sunscreen if needed.

  • ๐Ÿ Social Studies: Students learned about the events that led to Confederation. We also started discussing current events with a news article assigned through Newsela.
  • ๐Ÿ Science: Students learned about the benefits of wetland ecosystems through experiments. We talked about failure!
  • ๐Ÿˆ Physical Education: Students are playing flag football. 
  • ๐ŸŒฎ Food Truck Challenge (Wellness): Students are working on the design of the truck and a healthy menu. The food truck project is part of the Truck Town, a city students are building.

Class Update - May 4

Espero que todos hayan tenido una excelente semana y disfrutaron del buen clima. I hope you all had an excellent week and enjoyed the nice weather.

We had an awesome week with the performance of our students at Quรฉ Pasa, a celebration of the Spanish Bilingual program. Did you recognize the artwork in the cover of the programme? Well, that's us! Our Joan Mirรณ posters made it to the cover of the programme. I am so proud of my students! Pictures of the performance will be added to our Google Classroom.

  • ๐Ÿ’ƒ Spanish: Students finalized the recipe of their favourite dish. 
  • ๐Ÿ“š English: Students kept working on their biography and reading. 
  • ๐Ÿ Social Studies: Students learned about the Great Migration from the British Isles and summarize the reasons why people from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland left their country.
  • ๐Ÿ Science: Students learned about the life cycle of plants and animals and are now researching about the life cycle of living things in a wetland ecosystem
  • ๐Ÿˆ Physical Education: Students are practicing how to throw the ball. 
  • ๐ŸŒฎ Food Truck Challenge: Students are working on the design of the truck, menu and recipes. The food truck project will be part of the Truck Town, a city students will be building.
