Hola familias:
Can you believe we are near the end of October? On Monday, October 31, we will have a Halloween parade. Please, read the note below for more details.
This Week in Review:
- Math: We are reviewing the multiplication tables up to 9x9. Students will have a daily challenge starting on Monday to practice multiplication and mental math. Please, practice the multiplication tables at home!
- Social Studies: Students completed their project postcards from across Canada.
- Spanish: We are reviewing adjectives with "Día de los Muertos" activities, including a song.
- ELAL: Students finished reading chapters 33 to 39 of the novel, and completed the discussion questions.
- Science: We learned about the water cycle and have now began to design their own water cycle project. Students had two choices to do their project: building a diorama or designing the water cycle diagram in a Minecraft world.
- Art: Students completed their print making project about "catrinas" or skulls.
Halloween
With Halloween coming up, students are invited to wear costumes to school on Monday, October 31. The costumes must be worn the whole day and must be appropriate for school environment meaning no violent or inappropriate content or messaging. Accessories such as swords, guns, knives, weapons etc. should not be brought to school. As costumes should not impede learning, we ask that no mask even if it’s a half face mask be worn to school. Those wanting to wear COVID masks are welcome to. Due to dietary restrictions and preferences, no food should be brought to school for sharing purposes. While well intended, other non-food treats should also be not brought to school (goodie/loot bags).
*Please, do not bring food to share on October 31st or November 1st. Thank you!
School photos retakes were originally scheduled to happen on October 17 & 18 have been rescheduled to November 2 & 3. If you would like your child to have photo retakes, please email your child's teacher to let them know. Class Photos will also happen on the same days.
Raz-Kids
Students now have access to use Raz-Kids at school and home. This is a great tool that allows students to have access to English and Spanish books at their reading level. We also encourage students to take the reading comprehension quiz that follows the reading. As teachers we can get useful information that sparks a conversation around students' reading comprehension based on what students are reading.
