Class Update - February 2

Hello everyone,

I hope you all have a good rest this weekend. We had short, amazing week with the kids going on the hill to skii and snowboard. Thank you to our parent volunteers for your help and support. The students did amazing! We also did our science experiment and crystals are growing in the classroom -some of them are taking the form of a "broccoli but blue." 😁

This week we learned / Esta semana aprendimos:

  • πŸ”’ Math: Fractions! We learned about equivalent fractions today.
  • πŸ’ƒ Spanish: We are looking at the different parts of a tale. Next, we will be writing a tale, un cuento en espaΓ±ol. 
  • πŸ“š English: We started the poetry booklet and it is expected that students complete this work next week.
  • πŸ”¬ Science: We completed the first part of the chemistry unit.  A short quiz was conducted today February 2. 
  • πŸ”Ž Social Studies: We are critically examining the ways of life of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Students are learning about the way of life of Indigenous Peoples in the Cordillera Region - Northwest Coastal People.
  • 🎨 Art: Students are learning about how Indigenous groups in Canada and South America have used geometrical shapes as part of their culture. They are specifically learning about the Coast Salish basketry and the WayΓΊu bags. Meanwhile, they are creating their own design, one that they identify as part of their own culture.
  • 🧘🏽 Wellness: We learned about grit and perseverance.
  • 🎾 Physical Education: We learned a few passing techniques to play badminton and tennis.
